CANEY LAKE
My paternal grandfather, Cordy White, and my dad's maternal grandfather, Jim
Morgan, were forced to sell their land in Caney Creek to allow the government
to build Caney Lake.

This is empty (Mt) Caney, from when they drained it to rebuild the spillway.
That old road across the middle was Sam Harper's favorite
fishing spot. He caught many a bass over that road. Greg Grambling.

Notice the boat house in the background with the swimming
area behind it.
This was in the fifties when the
swimming area was in the middle of the lake.
Those were some the best years of our lives.
We just didn't know it
back then.

There's a number of Minden kids here. To name a few, Peggy Cheshire, Judy
Smith, Bobby Jean,
Ginger Rushing, Jo Ann Williams,I'm on the left end middle row having a 'bad hair day'. I see Larry
Miles, Winston Smith, David *Eddamond(*not spelled correct). Mrs. Perryman. "Cotton" Gleason
was the camp director/ preacher. He got cut
off left side, front row.

How about those fashionable swim caps?
Submittted by John Quade, Quade Photographers, Main Street, Minden, Louisiana
There is one photo that caught my attention that Mr. Quade shot of me
sitting on our red & white (Texas Made) boat at the main ski route sign
at Caney. We pulled almost all the members of FBC including Dr,
Aldrige, his wife, and girls skiing. That shot was to promote 4th of
July at Caney Lake one year for the Minden paper. That 1957 model boat
is still in the water today here in Texas.
