IN MEMORY OR RON GARCIA WHO DIED 40 YEARS AGO JUNE 17, 1967

 I think that there are many MHS grads who will remember our friend, Ron Garcia. His family lives across the street from

MHS and Ron had several brothers and sisters who attended Minden High School.  Sadly, Ron perished in Vietnam  over 40 years ago, on June 17, 1967.  His smiling face is missed by all who knew him.

A TRIBUTE TO RON GARCIA

He told his mother, "He would be back "

But that did not happen because his jeep got ran over by a land mine.

James Ronald Garcia was known as Ron or Ronnie Garcia to all of us in Minden in the early and mid 60's.  His parents, Jay and Dottie, have lived across the street from Minden High School for decades.  I guess that is College Street?  Mr. Garcia moved to Minden around 1961.  There were several children who finished from MHS, but I believe Ron must have graduated elsewhere, so maybe they did not move to Minden until 1962-63 since
Ronnie was only 2-3 years older than the guys of my age.  I just cannot remember about Ron in those early years in Minden.
 
Ron was a nice guy and he always had a smile.  He was well liked by all of the people in the classes of 1963-65, especially by the girls.  When he shipped out to Viet Nam he told his mother "I will be back", but that did not happen because his jeep ran over a land mine.
 
The Garcia's are gracious people and I talk or correspond with Mr. Garcia (Jay) a few times each year. 
 
If you could make mention of Ron Garcia, of Minden in the mid 60's it would be of great interest to those in high school at that time
