LARRY BREWER
Larry Brewer, MHS Class of 1966, was a 1st cousin of
Mike Brewer, MHS Class of 1964.
Larry Brewer was a huge man and very athletic. He was a
great high school football player but even better college player. People in
north LA remember him as the main receiver for Terry Bradshaw, Woodlawn
class of 1966. Larry was a C.P.A. and for a while was a hospital
administrator in Ruston, LA. He later went to Tulsa to do the same type of
job. Tragically, Larry drowned while on a family vacation in Hawaii in 2003.
He left behind his Mother, Father, brother and his family, three children,
and numerous cousins. He is buried in Tulsa.
Mike Brewer, class of 1966, some could argue as one of
the best if not the best overall athlete to attend MHS. Mike was All-State
in baseball 4 years straight, from his freshman year to his senior year. In
addition he was All-State in football, and All-State in track, winning
the javelin event at the 1964 AA state track meet. Mike signed a football
scholarship with LSU but his career was cut short because of a serious knee
injury. Mike and his wife, Cindy Williams (MHS class of 1965) live in
Collierville, TN, and they have two children.
Fred Haynes was called the Little Tiger. He was
All-State in football his senior year at MHS. Fred Haynes, Mike Brewer,
Dennis McClure, and Jimmy Woods were the All-State football players on that
team.
